Satisfactory power plant calculator

Enter the power you need in MW and choose your generators and fuels. The calculator shows every generator, miner, extractor, pipe and fuel machine to build, and how to connect them.

How the power calculator works

  1. Enter your target in MW and add one row per generator type: Biomass Burner, Coal-Powered, Fuel-Powered, Nuclear or Geothermal. Give each row a share of the target in MW or percent.
  2. Pick the fuel and clock speed. Every generator runs at that clock and the last one is underclocked so the output matches exactly.
  3. Add one row per plant site. For coal, enter how many impure, normal and pure nodes the site has; the best nodes are used first. Choose your miner, belt and pipe tiers.
  4. Read the plan: fuel, water and waste per minute, extractors and miners, the fuel production chain, generator lines with pipe and belt loads, the plant's own power use and numbered build steps.

Rates are theoretical at the chosen clock speeds. The diagram is schematic and not to scale; geothermal output fluctuates around the average shown. Need the fuel for something else? Open the production planner.

Frequently asked questions

How many generators do I need for my target MW in Satisfactory?

Enter the target MW and pick a generator and fuel. The calculator divides the target by the output at your clock speed, underclocks the last generator so the total is exact and counts the Power Shards needed for overclocking.

How much water does a coal or nuclear power plant need?

A Coal-Powered Generator uses 45 m³ of water per minute at 100 % clock and a Nuclear Power Plant uses 240 m³. The calculator adds the Water Extractors, at 120 m³ per minute each, and the pipes for every generator line.

How should I connect pipes for full flow to my generators?

The plan splits generators into manifold lines so that no pipe or belt carries more than its tier allows. It lists the Water Extractors, belts and pipes for each line.

Can I plan coal nodes of different purities and several power plant sites?

Yes. Each generator row is one plant site with an optional name. Enter how many impure, normal and pure coal nodes that site has: the plan uses the best nodes first with one miner each, shows the miners and clocks per purity, warns with the extra nodes needed when they fall short and can set the site to the MW its nodes can fuel.

Can it plan the fuel production too?

Yes. For manufactured fuels such as Turbofuel, Compacted Coal or Uranium Fuel Rods it builds the full production chain and lists every machine, raw resource and byproduct to sink. Alternate recipes are used only when no standard chain exists, and each one is listed.
